AMBER'S OAK TABLE FACTS: Made in Canada, Heirloom Quality.

LUMBER: Hand-crafted from the finest NORTHERN RED OAK grown in the N. USA (N.Y., Penn, Mich, Wisc.) Harvested from tree farms. We only use 100-year-old wood for all of our tables. Many companies use 40-year old wood to cut costs. However, younger oak is not suitable for Alberta's dry climate. Even when it is sealed it will still lose moisture, resulting in splitting and cracking. The wood is kiln dried, which allows enough moisture to leave the wood before it is sealed. This prevents future warping and cracking.

GLUED INTO PANELS AND SHAPED: We use the most modern waterproof yellow glue available. We use only formaldehyde-free glue. Our tables are bonded with a RADIO FREQUENCY PRESS (1 ˝ minutes per panel to cure). This ensures that the glue dries evenly. When bonded with our press, glue failure is rare. This means that your table will not split. Many companies use clamping to bond their tables, which often leads to splitting. Amber's has an automatic shaper with jigs for hundreds of styles of tables. The shaper cap is driven by a 20 horse power motor. The shaper has the capacity to shave up to 5" and is the same equipment that was used when making the UN conference table.

NO SHORTCUTS: 5 dowel - stabilized tables Gear system - double equalizing slides (smoother operation) on hardwood. Base - levelers on adjustable glides (adjusts to any floor).

AMBER'S FINISH: All of Amber's tables are wipe-stained. Unlike spray-on stain, this ensures that the stain seeps into the wood. Our catalyzed lacquer is heat-resistant thirty days after construction. This means that coffee cups won't leave rings. You could even spill nail polish remover on the table without turning the lacquer white (wipe it off if it happens, please…). Again, these tables are built for every day use so that you can enjoy your beautiful kitchen or dining suite with peace of mind.
